Bring an African voice to the COP22

The Land of African Business will open for its second edition in preamble to COP22, held in Marrakech in December 2016. The LAB’s first edition in December 2015 during COP21 was a large success with more than 3000 participants of more than 40 nationalities, and led to the drafting of a White Paper.

Since 1992 and the Earth Summit in Rio, economics, politics, diplomatic, societal and environmental issues have been moved by the emergence of Africa, yet a major economic and doing business player.

High level leaders of the 54 countries of the continent are invited to the LAB to share the recommendations they will make in Marrakech.

For a long time, the arguments of African leaders lacked of unity. The voice of Africa remained inaudible. In Copenhagen in 2009, at COP15, for instance, they threatened, in vain, to quit the negotiations. Their legitimate claims had not found an echo supporting their position before major political and economic stakeholders, such as the United States, China, India and the European Union.

Today, the African continent can legitimately assert the highest growth rate in the world. All the sectors of the economy take part in a sustainable development. Issues such as health, mobility, food safety, demography, urbanisation, climate change, waste management, women’s right, green financial mechanisms, education, new technologies, will be at the core of the debates of/during the LAB.
